Library Functionality
Project Overview: D.H Hill Jr. Library is a library and media center located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
My team and I were challenged with redesigning the library to increase the usability and create a better experience for patrons.
There were three main goals with this project,
1. Investigation: Learn what the major issues surrounding the use of the library were from the voices of those who frequent it.
(or choose not to)
2. Optimization: Re-work the existing processes, making them more indicative of their uses.
3. Empirical Design: Rather than focus on the obvious uses, consider the lived experiences of people in the community and use that to shape the framework for the design.
Essential Question: Why do people hate the library?
Phase 1: Identifying Problems
Phase 2: Surveys and Observation
Phase 3: Persona Creation and Journey Mapping
